The last time I renewed my license I saw Beat King at the Louetta DPS office. We sat across from each other silently, both of us staring at our phones. I believe it was only a few weeks before Then Leave blew up. I had heard his music through my friend Jas and seen clips of him performing; but I didn’t recognize his face. We made awkward I contact way too many times. I kept staring at his green hair, and trying to figure out where I recognized him from.
After I left my friend showed me his SnapChat story. I got upset that I failed to recognize him but also relieved. Even if I did know him off the bat, I don’t think my anxiety would have let me.
I remember bragging to all my friends about it, while the whole country danced to his music. Another Houston legend was born and inaugurated into one of the many voices that embody the sounds of this city.
The day he passed we smoked a blunt and listened to music. We mourned Houston’s embodiment of Dionysus, a father, and a man that was able to leave a legacy not only in this city but throughout the whole country. Thank you for bringing Houston’s club scene to the world, even during a lockdown and a pandemic.
So many things and songs on my mind, y'all know me! 😪
I received a divine message to study Russian composers, and I particularly enjoyed the raw chaos of Stravinsky, Turns out Masuda was also inspired by him while creating the Lavender Town Theme. Through a series of revelations I also have come to realize why I have been autistically obsessed with Pokemon for my whole life. Long story short, but my cousin Michael gave me a bunch of TCG cards before he was murdered. I barely had anything before I got kicked out of my last place I bought two lil cheap figures. I left a Jigglypuff holding a mic, at the altar I made for the man that saved me from my family, Luis Miranda. I got back to my parents and cried when I saw the other figure, a Pikachu holding a flower, next to a portrait of my sisters. Life is too short to make money or time an excuse. You never know, a small action can change both a young boy and a grown man forever. God willing I'll have something out by mid May.
So Hold on Til May!
